As a Product Designer at Servgrow, I played an integral role in every aspect of the development process, from grooming to creating mockups. My contributions included the development of designs for web application, mobile application and website.
I introduced a UI-review flow into our work process to achieve the best possible product UI implementation and avoid bugs. Previously, we had a list for all UI bugs and improvements, and sometimes we tried to add bugs from this list to sprints. However, this was a time-consuming and ineffective way to address UI issues. To solve this problem, I proposed to change our UI review flow by adding two steps for design checking. The first step involved checking the actuality of attached wireframes before sprint planning, and the second step involved checking the design-truth when the task was in the 'ready for review' column. This new system helped to decrease the quantity of UI bugs and made our system look better.
During the project, I designed features such as 2-way text, online booking, checklists for jobs, invoices, service plans, activity feed, appointment reminders, custom campaigns, and much more. One of the most significant features was the customer portal, which we developed as a separate software for customers. It is a customizable platform that enables customers to manage work requests, view estimates, check past and future appointment details, pay invoices online, and more.
When I joined the project, the mobile application was almost entirely designed. However, I proposed several base mobile improvements, such as changing whole selects on separate pages with search opportunities. I also created designs for features such as the dashboard, service plans, checklists, and more.
This year, I proposed to update the current version of the website because it lacked new features and looked outdated. The client agreed, and we had one month to complete the project. I designed and developed the website on Webflow. The most challenging moment was creating the 50+ industries page, which had the same structure and text, but the difference was in the industry's name and image. I created a Webflow page template, added the database with industry names and images, and then used collections to avoid recurring work.
1. If the most common rules do not fit the project and team, we should change them to improve the process.
2. Design for mobile applications is not just customizing web options. Design for mobile has different rules and usability, which require unique solutions.
3. User feedback is the most critical part of the entire product development process.
